DALTON PICNIC AREA

Public BBQ

Dalton Picnic Area sits quietly beside the tennis courts, offering more than your typical roadside stop. The highlight here is the fascinating fossil rock formation that'll have kids scrambling about in wonder while parents fire up the provided barbecue. It's refreshingly honest about what it offers - clean toilets (a blessing on any road trip), decent shade for those scorching summer days, and enough parking that you won't be doing laps. The real surprise is discovering you can pitch a tent short-term beside the courts if you're following the Wikicamps trail. Dog-friendly too, though the usual courtesies apply. Not flash, but practical as a Swiss Army knife and genuinely welcoming for families needing a proper break from the highway grind.
